Our Story

In Bhadohi, the carpet capital of India, rugs have been made by hand for generations.

In Bhadohi, the carpet capital of India, rugs have been made by hand for generations.

The weaver rises early. The washer works through the afternoon. The binder finishes what the loom began. Between them, a rug takes shape — slowly, over weeks, sometimes months.

The artisan is the founder of RUH RUG. Without the hand that weaves, there is no rug. Without the rug, there is no brand.

Every price RUH RUG charges is set with one priority: that the people who make the rug are paid fairly for their work — not as a policy, but as the first obligation, before margin, before growth, before anything else.

The word RUH refers to the breath that gives life. We chose that name because we believe the rug carries something of the person who made it — their time, their knowledge, their patience.

We know the looms these rugs come from. We can take you to them.

When you bring a RUH RUG into your home, you are receiving the work of real people, traded honestly.

We trade by one standard. Read it here — The Merchant’s Code.
